What is a Renewal?

If you are not done with a book, TV series or other physical item before its due date, try to renew it for more time. Renewal is not always possible, usually because someone has a hold on it.

See all reasons why an item cannot be renewed.

How to...

Items eligible for renewal...

Can be renewed up to 2 times.
Renew automatically on the due date if there are no holds.
Can also be renewed manually.
Get 3 weeks each renewal, calculated from the date renewed.
Can be checked out again immediately after 2 renewals if you bring it to one of our locations and no one is waiting.

Monday –Thursday: 9 AM to 8 PM
Friday: 9 AM to 5 PM
Saturday: 10 AM to 5 PM
Sunday: 12 PM to 5 PM

Renew Online

Log in to My APL: Checked Out.
Click Renew next to the title you want to renew.

If renewal is possible, a message will say Successfully renewed.
If renewal is not possible, a message will say Item not renewable.

Note: OverDrive items cannot be renewed in the catalog, but you may be able to renew them in your OverDrive account. Learn more about renewing OverDrive items.
