What is a Renewal?

If you are not done with a book, TV series or other physical item before its due date, try to renew it for more time. Renewal is not always possible, usually because someone has a hold on it.

Renew by Phone

Monday–Saturday, call Customer Service: 512-974-7475
On Sundays, call Ask a Librarian: 512-974-7400, Option 1 

Renew Online

  1. Log in to My APL: Checked Out.
     
  2. Click Renew next to the title you want to renew.

    A checked out book is shown with Renew indicated in the lower right.


If you do not see Renew, select the three stacked dots icon to reveal the option.  

If renewal is possible, a message will say Successfully renewed.
If renewal is not possible, a message will say Item not renewable. 

 

Note: If it says Cannot Renew, it is an OverDrive item. You may be able to renew it through your OverDrive account. Learn more about renewing OverDrive items.
