What is APL Innovate?

Innovation Lab

Over the past several decades, advancements in computers and other computer-related technologies have allowed nearly anyone to create and share their artistic visions in ways that were previously impossible.

Here at the Austin Public Library, APL Innovate provides community access to state-of-the-art computer hardware and software to create digital content such as podcasts, videos, 3D renderings, music, and more.

APL Innovate is comprised of the Innovation Studio (Room 523) and the Innovation Lab, both located on the 5th floor of the Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas.

Reserve a computer in the Innovation Studio or Lab to polish your digital content and upskill your digital craft.

  • The Studio (Room 523) is equipped with 2 Mac Pro Towers.
  • The Lab is outside the Studio and features a public computer cluster with 5 Apple desktops (M1 iMacs) and 8 Windows desktops (Dell Workstations).

The library's Use Rules apply to the Innovation Studio (Room 523) and Innovation Lab or when using any resources related to APL Innovate. Please refer to the library's Use Rules before booking these spaces.

If the reserving party is more than 15 minutes late, they forfeit the reservation
