In 2016 the City Council passed the Fair Chance Hiring Ordinance. This ordinance prohibits employers with 15 or more employees to discriminate based on criminal history. They cannot ask about criminal history on an application or in an interview. 

An individual must be authorized to work in the United States. This can present a challenge for some populations. Immigration attorneys, refugee services, and community centers can provide a support network and professionals to help individuals navigate this territory.
