Newspapers, Magazines and Journals: Journals

Journals at Austin Public Library

In research, a journal is the format in which scholarly articles are published. There are also trade journals that focus on certain professions. Though we lack the range of research journals available at university libraries, we still have thousands of scholarly and trade journals great for advanced high school students, college students, professionals and general readers interested in academic topics.

Most of our journals are online. The Central Library and the Austin History Center have a few in print and on microfilm. Branch locations do not have research journals in physical formats.

Search by Topic: Databases

Searching by topic? Use a database, which will allow you to search across thousands of journals at once. Below are good places to start. For more, see Databases by Subject, see our Information Guides or Ask a Librarian for advice.

Also see the full list of Gale OneFile subject-specific databases for additional resources!
